| my first mod project. i began with this old computer i bought for 10 dollars. it had all the hardware and plugs. some of them were unplugged, and it was all dusty. After i cleaned it up i plugged it in, and it had working widows home edition. (cool). i installed my virus software and registry fix. i found tons of viruses. it has a 20 gig hd. the mobo is not that great, but at least it works. i am going to use it for music and w/e else. this is my first attemp to modify a computer case. here are some pictures of my case. |

| Re: my first mod project. here is the side pannel. i need to finish cutting it. i had to buy a new dremel. 75$ walmart. its bad ass. oh and i used krylon paint. i was goint to use clear coat too, but the paint started to wrinkle. the paint alone is shinny enough. |

| Re: my first mod project. the psu was all bent up when i got it. i shoulda used a hammer to straighten it out first but, o well. that is a space for an isa slot. it says isa1 on the mobo. but i dont know how to attach the slot. tha brown slot says cnr1. i thought it was a pcie x1??? not sure. i dont think its a anthlon. the comp is a generic brand. once i get it running ill post all the specs. |

| Re: my first mod project. You can't attach an ISA slot, the PCB was used for other models that had it. I know that's a CNR slot. That motherboard is about 6+ years before PCI-E existed so it's not a 4x slot for that. 1x slots are a lot smaller. I'm betting the processor is an Athlon XP, or Athlon Thunderbird. |

| Re: my first mod project. 1.2 GHz Duron is of the Athlon Thunderbird core family I believe. So my guess was pretty close.
Without knowing the motherboard chipset I can't tell you what your max memory is for sure. If it's DDR1 you probably can go 2x1GB if the controller lets you. There are 2GB DDR1 sticks I think, but they're high density so the controller won't like it, very unlikely they'd work. It's too old for dual channel so mix and match memory as you please. You have 2x256MB DDR200 or DDR266 sticks either PC1600 or PC2100. I think PC1600 was rare, but I can't remember from that long ago. Either way your bus is only 100 MHz so it doesn't matter what speed of DDR you use.
XP is at SP3 now, should update that.
8mb of video memory your maximum capabilities would be 1600x1200 32bit. |

| Re: my first mod project. The paint job looks sick, but the window is a bit too big, it shows the drive bays. But that's not too much of a problem. Great job for your first time |

I like seeing the extra amount of red. just stealth the hard drives by flipping them around if you can. |
