My mom's old Gateway from 1998 should have been out of commission in 2000. But it has been serving for 8 years now. Far past it it's prime. But I'll give it one final upgrade. It's not much, but it will be more then 2x times it's power once the upgrade is done. Let the fun begin, first off, here's the original specs
Intel Celeron Slot 1 CPU @ 333MHz
64MB PC100 RAM
4GB Quantum HDD
Rage Pro Turbo IGP
Intel Motherboard
4x CDROM Drive
New Specs
Intel Celeron S370 @ 600MHz
256MB PC100 RAM
10GB Seagate HDD
Radeon 7000 PCI Video Card
Intel Motherboard
36x CDROM Drive
Started taking everything apart.
The "new" mother, RAM, CPU
The old stuff, little bit dusty.
After 8 years this is what a PSU will look like...
Motherboard, CPU, and RAM out of the case.
Power switch and power LED wired up for the new motherboard. (yay for $1 wire stripper)
Fan grill used to hold up the fan. Even though it's not a powerhouse going in there I don't trust it with only the PSU fan and HS/F.
Sick stuff, got rid of most of it with canned air stuff, then I ran out. >_<
Didn't feel like cleaning that old fan, so instead I used the fan that was hacked up for my Xbox case. (original case that is)
Everything assembled and about ready to boot.
Pc Heresy?
Several hours later after countless installations failed and alot of trial and error with drives, cables, disks.
Once the grimone said that he had the EXACT same problem I took out the RAM and put one of my sticks in and had XP installed in about 45 minutes. PC all hooked up and running in an hour. yay!
Well there was my Friday night. >_<
....and yes I like to take pictures, if you can't tell, haha.
