Default XFX GeForce 9800 GTX Video Card

would this be worth it im thinking about buying this XFX GeForce 9800 GTX Video Card it is $257.88 to where i live it has 512mb Memory Clock: 2200mhz shader clock: 1688mhz this would be a HUGE upgrade from my onboard and im pretty sure i will be able to play any game with it but the 8500gt has 1gb of memory but only 983 mhz shader clock but its only 100 bucks but im thinking of going to the 9800gtx because it soulda WAY better :) does anyone know which one is the better deal??

Hope that was meant as a joke?=P

But anyway, where do you live that the 9800GTX is $260? If you have access to Newegg, get the 9800GTX+ it is like $180 for most brands after rebate. The GTX+ has higher clocks and runs cooler thanks to 55nm=)

Edit: just saw you live in Canada. Sorry for your luck=P JK but seriously find a place with some GTX+ they might be cheaper and better performance.

8800GT isn't that bad of a card really. I had a 8800GT and I never thought of upgrading to a 9800GTX, the difference wasn't enough. So I picked up another 8800GT for SLI.

Pretty much only a 5-10 frame difference at max graphics.

Yeah hah showing up a friend is always good=) . I know the 9800GTX is a nice card=) I'm just defending the 8800GT.

I think you may be thinking of the 8800GTS which there are 2 different versions of with different cores. All the 8800GTs are the same and only differ in how much they are overclocked.

Just to throw my opinion in about my own card. I played crysis on medium-high settings with AA turned pretty much all the way up if i recall, and it played very smooth, i dont remember the FPS but yea.

The 8800GT is monster in value and performance, no "not that bad" about the matter. Buy an 8800GT and overclock and be done with it. If you don't mind the pirce, however the 9800 is badass card.
