| Re: What are you currently playing? So, I finished Rage a couple of days ago. Did the whole Scorchers DLC campaign as well. I ended up really liking this game. My biggest bitch is really just that once you beat everything, that's it. You can't even revisit any areas and grind away at mutants or anything. All you can do is drive your car and take out bandits (for which you will no longer get racing certificates), or do races. I was hoping that it would be possible to continue to visit areas a la Borderlands. But hey, I bought it for $5 a while back and I got way more than five bucks worth of fun out of it.
I'm think I'm going to go for Dead Island next (grabbed it on the Steam holiday sale). It's time for more zombies. |

| Re: What are you currently playing? All right, so I started playing Dead Island. Really good game. Incredibly frustrating bugs, though (if anyone has audio issues with it and needs to know how to make them go away, just ping me, I can help). Once those are worked out, it has really good gameplay, though, other than the fact that I hate the checkpoint-and-random-save format ported over from the console. Let me ****ing hit quick save whenever I want. Sometimes I get interrupted and have to knock something off of the honey-do list so that I can get some peace and get back to the game. It's a PC, so let me us it like one, dammit. Otherwise, totally fun smashing zombies.
Started toying around with Wordament on my Windows Phone and have been playing Taptiles (way too addictive for such a stupid little game) and The Gunstringer: Dead Man Running (a Temple Run clone, but with better graphics) on my Surface RT. |

| Re: What are you currently playing? Well, I just beat Dead Island. Really great game...looking forward to the next installment. Sound is buggy as all hell, though. Hopefully they'll make that more solid in the sequel. But plot-wise and gameplay-wise, it's every bit as good as L4D2, perhaps better. I DID get tired of fixing my good weapons all of the time (and $$$ penalties for dying...that always pisses me off), but those are minor gripes. Awesome game.
Trying to figure out what to play next. It won't be anything for a couple of weeks, as I am going to be in Vegas this coming week and in Seattle the following. So, I have a little time to think about it. Perhaps Far Cry 3? I got a free copy with some of my new hardware, so that may be the way to go. That, or maybe finally play Amnesia: the Dark Descent. Hmmm...choices, choices... |

| Re: What are you currently playing? So, after spanking Dead Island, I did decide to move on to Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Very interesting game. Simple gameplay, not a lot to do, but high quality for an indie game...and very nerve-racking. When you're being tracked by some creature, it will scare the bejeezus out of you. |

| Re: What are you currently playing? Assassin's Creed 1 to Revelations -- Loved it 10/10
FFX -- Still Epic even if graphics aren't on par with today's games 10/10
RE 5 -- Though it sucked they say on reviews, I'd say it rocked. 7/10
Skyrim -- Been a fan of Diablo 2 LoD since childhood days so I'm lovin this - 9/10
...there's a lot of games on my mind and a lot I want to try..:) |

| Re: What are you currently playing? Was on the road for two weeks, so other than Taptiles and Jetpack Joyride on the Surface, no gaming.
Glad to be home now...catching up on work and also on Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Truly creeping and occasionally terrifying, but not particularly gory. Just very, very tense. I'm about halfway through it, but a very good indie game thus far. I may hit Far Cry 3 next...still debating that. |

| Re: What are you currently playing? With the Pro, I'd venture to say "sure," since it's essentially a full PC, and if the OOTB networking stack won't get it done, you can install something that will. Not sure on the RT.
I actually travelled with my Surface lately and took all of my notes on it last week while I was in Seattle. It was nice to have something that worked and not have to drag the laptop everywhere. There were a couple of moments where I wished I had the laptop for some hardcore typing, but overall it was really great. Battery life is very good...about 10 hours of occasional use or 7-8 hours under a real load. It already took one hard drop and survived well. The magnesium body is pretty badass.
Saw a Pro in person for the first time last week...wow. Screen is incredible...400 NIT brightness (most tabs are 250-300), pen digitizer is optically bonded to the gorilla glass 2, 1920X1080...list goes on. Shorter battery life (obviously, it's Intel-based, not ARM), but you get a lot of power for it. I saw the engineering explanations as to design choices firsthand, and it's amazing. Dual fans that you can't hear. Cool. Long story short, it ain't cheap, but you get what you pay for. |

| Re: What are you currently playing? I've put Amnesia on hold for a few days...been too busy with work, so I've done some casual gaming on my Surface. I've been playing 4 Elements II...well, actually, I've already beaten all of the game except the bonus levels, and I'm about 4 into that as well. Don't know why I like that game so much, but it's a lot of fun. (shrugs) |

| Re: What are you currently playing? Well, I'm a little stuck on the bonus levels on 4 Elements II...hit one with those @#$!ing sliding puzzles, and I can't figure them out in time. So, I've paused that out of frustration and will come back to it later.
The big thing is that I finally beat Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Did all three endings, too. I have to say that it is one of the most interesting and well-designed indie games that I've played in a while.
Also, I've been playing Alphajax on my WinPhone...crushing people's souls on that game is fun. Full achievements, here I come. Bwwwuuaaahahahahaha!
Now, what to play next...such a loooonnnggg list... Far Cry 3? That's a top contender. I've been considering catching up on the FEAR games too...beat the first one and at least one of the original expansion packs. I have 2 and 3 laying around on Steam, so maybe one of those as well. It's definitely time to shoot something again, in any case.
I also want to get back to the Sam & Max games. Maybe a shooter, then some Sam and Max, then maybe a RPG...hmmmmm... |

| Re: What are you currently playing? So, I was going to start Far Cry 3, but had issues with their stupid installer (got a free license, but it wasn't through Steam, so I'm having to use that annoying uPlay engine)...their tech support was no good. I ended up figuring it out myself, but not before I just moved on. So, I started playing a game that's a little dated, but fun nonetheless... Sniper Elite. It's not perfect, but it certainly makes you play very differently from your normal FPS. I'm itching to play Far Cry, though...so I may get through one or two more missions in Sniper Elite, then play Far Cry, and then switch back. We'll see.
I've been playing a ton of Win8 games on my Surface RT, too, mostly because that's often all I have time for. 7 Little Words has been a daily thing for me, along with TapTiles. I also have beat the crap out of Jetpack Joyride (all achievements, looped the missions four times, etc.) and Rocket Riot 3D. Oh, and I've cleared all achievements on Shuffle Party as well. I'm currently working my way through Royal Envoy 2, which is a lot more interesting than I'd initially thought. I mostly bought it because it was two bucks (along with a couple other Win8 games...they had an XBox Live games sale in the Windows Store the other day), but have ended up really digging it.
BTW...probably getting a Surface Pro soon. Work owes me some new tech. I will let you all know if it lives up to the hype. |

| Re: What are you currently playing? Finished Hitman: Absolution recently - as a game all by itself, I'd give it a 9/10 - it's just fantastic. Good gameplay, good story, good balance of action and content, awesome cinematic "he did not just kill that dude with that..." moments, and so on.
As a game as part of the Hitman series, it's its #5 out of 5, and probably like a 5/10. Terrible balance of stealth/action, terrible level design, etc by contrast to the previous games, but the story is solid and it still "fits" in the entire thing. Hopefully 6 (they've confirmed it will happen afaik, but no other details) will get back to the more conventional gameplay style, but I'm not holding my breath given that everything these days is consolized for console idiots.
I'd recommend Absolution even if you're a fan of the series (if you don't know the series, you'll dig the game, and find the previous 4 very bizarre); you'll at least appreciate the story, and either break down and just go on a Kane & Lynch style shooting rampage through it (out of frustration), or it'll take you 9999999 hours to beat.
EDIT
I tried Sniper Elite's demo a while ago - I hated it. |
