Default Painted/backlit Plexi Question/..

Okay, so for a mod I'm working on, I plan to use painted plexi and to etch my school logo into it.

This will be on the bottom of my case, and I was thinking of etching the logo into the black paint, so it will have a haze on it when I have it backlit. But I was wondering, should I etch the top of the sheet and paint the bottom, or what?

I plan to:
etch and paint bottom
back light it

There's 8 ways I could do this, and I'm unsure of which method will achieve the best looking result. I don't have any spare plexi to test this on, so I'm hoping for some help from you guys.

Paint the bottom, etch through the paint, OR, etch, cover it up then paint. Either way, paint and etch on same side will produce the best lighting results, and give it depth.

One technique that would be great to perfect would be the masking tape/sand
blaster that they use to make signs out of. They cover the letter areas, then sand blast the lines in the wood. Looks really good when done too :)

Oh wow i was actually just painting and etching some plexi yesterday to see how it looked, best results for me were etching then covering+painting, painting the etched plexi came out a little weird looking, if i find my camera ill take pics.

smartest way to etch is first use stencil draw it out on piece of paper then once you have done that use an exacto knife to cut out what you dont want
.after that tape it to the plexy were you want it to sit .then use small bit dremmel drill fine point .make sure you practice before trying this you will need steady hand hope that helps.
