I'm currently in the process of moving... #2 Reason...
People offered to buy my folding machines (for other reasons then to fold) for the right price, so I sold most of them. #3 Reason... |

| Re: Official Xoxide Forums Network Folding@home Team! Since it's getting nice and cold outside, I guess it couldn't hurt to start folding again. : )
Folding wise, it's a shame that I went from a 8800GTX up to a 4890.
If I recall correctly, my GTX could pump out 4500 PPD. It looks like my 4890 is going to crunch out 3600 PPD. |

| Re: Official Xoxide Forums Network Folding@home Team! We could use some more active folders guise! We currently only have 5 active folders!
My pc's are balls to the walls right now!
Q6600 @ 3.0GHz on cpu cilent (up to 6000ppd using cpu client, assuming I get the a3 beta proteins)
T7200 @ 2.0GHz on cpu cilent (900ppd)
8800gtx @ stock on gpu cilent (5400ppd) |

| Re: Official Xoxide Forums Network Folding@home Team! I have thought about doing this from time to time. I still dont understand it that much other then the basics and how important it is.
The link at the start of this thread for explaining it in more detail ( from 2005)
seems to be broken. Is there someplace you recommend for beginners to go and expand there knowledge of the process and how it interacts with your PC? |

| Re: Official Xoxide Forums Network Folding@home Team! Some googleing tells me you could get around 20,000 ppd. This would be using vmware and bigadv.
I've never looked into vmware and bidadv, so I can't really help you beyond recommending it.
If you are curious your 8800gt can probably do 4500-5500ppd.
On a random note, my cpu cilent keeps crashing on these new a3 work units. So I'm stuck using my 4890 again.
With the 4890 @ 880/1000, I get 3291ppd, @ 990/1000, I get 3566ppd. Depressing, but it's all I can do. |

| Re: Official Xoxide Forums Network Folding@home Team! Alright I'll go ahead and do this, I used to do the whole folding thing back in the day so may as well toss in the hat again to see how I do.
edit: upon installation, it appears it only wants to use 50% of my cpu, but doesn't seem to actually do anything. The video card I have already has overheating warnings so I'm not going to use the gpu client and push my luck.
that leaves me with a ps3 to toss towards the cause I suppose.

Try adding " -smp" to the shortcut of your cpu client should solve that issue. If not, try " -smp #", where # represents the number of cores your cpu has
