| Official Xoxide Forums Network Folding@home Team! Folding@home What are proteins and why do they "fold"? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out their biochemical function, they remarkably assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, and Parkinson's disease.
What does Folding@Home do? Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. We use novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct our approach to examine folding related disease. - To join our team, download folding@home

| What kinda temps are you getting after like 30minutes of running it?
This program causes a good amount of cpu load. Can cause overheating on a nonOC'd system (if you have lack of cooling).
Check temps, and then also you can reduce the amount of cpu % used in the configure/advanced options. Try loweriing it to like 60-80% or so. |

| heh :D
F@H is working fine on my system, no restarts or anything.
@ buckley, im thinking its not due to it, and rather a driver or hardware issue. I had serious error reboots when my ram was bad
As well as badly installed gfx drivers :) |

| well when i boot up the computer F@H starts automatically, then after about 2 mins it will lock up....and eventually restart itself... i know its not my temps, they are about 48-50*C for the full load, (XP 2500+) which is normal, and have run at that temp for a long time
i may need to check my ram timings...a while backed i tried to push it from 3 to 2.5... dunno if that would be the prob tho |
