OMG!!! RRRRRAAAAAAWWWWRRRR!!!!!11eleventy-one!

after Homer cleared up some of my questions, i got folding working on my dual core....
i got folding working on my dual pIII.... I got folding working on my p4 3.0ht....

all running in "dual mode" as i will coin it to amaze my colleagues. My PentD is doing 5000/500000 steps per approx 40 sec. How much is a "step" in relation to a frame?

It's frikkin tight.. on my dual pIII, it used ta sux at folding, after this enhancment..
the pIII have this badass rythm in task man... I'll get a screenshot sometime, cause it looks like none of my other folders. And it pulling 5000/500000 steps per 2 min.

well, a big azz w00t to homer and silva for the win.. Honestly anyone with a hyperthreader/dual core and some free pc time should utilize this... I'm already seeing amazing gains in folding performance over the traditional method..assuming 5000 steps per 45 sec. is good.

Well you need to create 2 folders(i labeled mine folding0 and folding1)

then download a copy of the F@H non graphical client to desktop...
Copy the f@H file you just downloaded and rename them to match the folders(folding 0 and 1), place them in the folders and run them one at a time thru configuration. The important part is to set machine id's to 1 and 2(won't let you use 0 and 1) respectivley.

I couldn't get it to work because i still had the graphic client installed, but as soon as i deleted the F@H gui folder, the others worked like a charm.

If you still need help, lemme know, cause as soon as Homer explained it, and i did it once, it's very simple. But make sure you GUI client is gone, first!

And a question for Duke... Is it still detrimental to run a single core on a hyperthreader? Ok to use if HT is disabled(eww)? My 3.0 threader really cranks out the wu's, wouldn't that make up for other issues? If needed i can disable the ht, i just wish i didn't have to.

and to update.. after getting dual folding working last nite, my Pent.D 830 has completed 275,000/500,000 steps, on bothe cores/wu.. I'm still confused as to how a step and a frame are related, but this seems like realy good progress.
and "step count" may have something to do with my checkpoints being 3 minutes apart.

what i meant was fold on a HTed machine. Stanford doesn't like it when you have two copies open on a HTed machine becuase it messes with their scheduling system. You can do it and it will boost output by 20%.

ok, excellent.. i don't mind scaling back to one core on my ht..I just couldn't bear to give up ht altogether.

Is there any way i can use the screensaver in conjunction with folding console? or any gui? I just kinda miss the info provided on the gui, namely the frmes per sec. is there any way to view this info with the console?
