Xoxide is proud to annouce that we've teamed up with Lian Li to present the "Crotchety Old Case" Photo Contest. This is your opportunity to turn that dusty old rig of yours into something useful again. Be it a fish tank, a giant paperweight, or possibly even an illegal smoking device (not that we condone that sort of thing), we want to see your practical use for that old-ass computer case. Three Winners will be awarded Lian Li Prize Packages!

The contest will be judged upon:

1. Cleverness
2. Creativity
3. Whatever's the Funniest or Most Bad-Ass.

The Contest ends on September 30th, 2008.

Couple of questions. Is more than one case allowed to create the final product? Also for something that is an active working item, should there be a video or multiple pictures of it in action? What Im planning to do I will be creating a worklog of, should I just send in a single pic for the contest and post the worklog pics/videos after the contest?

Curt, I love this contest. It's funny and doesn't require anyone to make a huge financial outpouring to participate. Great idea, and I'm juiced to see Xox back in the swing of things when it comes to contests and getting participation back.

GREAT IDEA!!!!....got some things to try...we'll see...problem was i threw my old cases away about 2 months ago...when i built a new computer...some parts bought here of course.....

so im scavenging for some cases now...lol

So they are looking for the oldest case or just the most beat up case?

If its the most beat up one then I can easily win that one xD

For what Im wanting to do I need 2 stardard cases and an iMac. However, I found I dont really have any cases I want to destroy, and I really hate to destroy my iMac (Its my daughters computer). So Im currently waiting on getting another iMac from the place I get all my junk stuff from. But at the rate Im going, Im about to just make it ALOT simpler and not do what I originally planned, dont know if I can get it all working correctly by the 30th.

I have the utmost faith that you can pull it off! As long as your creativity shines through, it doesn't matter how elementary you make the final product. Either way, I'm really excited to see the end results.

The contest isn't about who has the most busted case, it's about who can come up with the most practical, creative, or downright funny use for their old rig. Hope that clears a few things up.

I'll have mine completed tomorrow, I just mainly have to put it all together. So far testing has gone good while making the build, just hope the last few parts to put together works as planned. Im currently out of money till thursday, so I can't buy more stuff and now its truely a "use what you got" from now on build heh.

I think I have found a way I can enter this contest, even though I'm still on this boat. Since nobody answered my first question, I'm gonna show the pic anyways. A CRT Computer monitor washed up on the shore of Laysan Island, makes a good piece of marine debris!

After some thought I figured I would put up a teaser, I doubt I have to worry about copies. This is the start of it all.

What once was an original thought, now is a concept. Recycling at its best.

P.S. This is of course not the finished product. This is not my entry photo. This is completely a teaser photo. I will post a full worklog tomorrow night. Ill be emailing in a couple "official" photos for the contest, the worklog pics will be for everyones enjoyment.
