| Re: Vista giving you a Server Execution Failed? Can't get to the right directory? Are you trying to change to a directory that has spaces in the name? If so, you'll need to put quotes around the string. Spaces indicate another piece of data (generally, a parameter), which is why you're getting the "too many parameters" error.
I keep forgetting how all of you young'ns don't know your DOS commands. LOL |

| Re: Vista giving you a Server Execution Failed? Well I must thank Todd for posting his method as it seem to work, unless I was suppose to restart after using that other command line someone suggestion? and also Grez for reminding me that when spaces are involved you need quotes this is actually universal for most thing i should have known =\ |

You're certainly not the first one to forget about that. It's ingrained in my brain, having grown up in the pre-Windows days. |

Simply run a command prompt as an administrator (right-click on it and click "Open as Administrator") then enter the following command line:
net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add
That should do it. We should thank God for the each other because Microsoft sure has no F-ing idea what they are doing yet.

| Re: Vista giving you a Server Execution Failed? well guys, i must thank you, the cmdline
net localgroup "Administrators" "NT Authority\Local Service" /add
worked for me, but my problem was not because of updates or anything, i was messing with sum registry stuff, trying to fix another problem and disabled the IPV6 entirely, thus causing this problem...
alternatively, i have another problem maybe some one can help me with.
i have a Acer aspire x3200(Desktop), with Vista Home Premium, SP1.
also i have a Presario C500(Laptop), with Vista Home Basic, SP1.
i am trying to use my laptop as a "wireless bridge" so to speak, to have internet access on my desktop, this is my only option, as my modem and router are in the living room, and i cant move them. For a while it worked, then every time i unplug and take my PC's somewhere when i get back and plug them in usually about 1 hour of "Limited or no connectivity" i get internet. For some reason this time it is not working at all, it has been 2 days, and nothing, i have a LAN working, i can play LAN games on both PC's, but only laptop has internet....can anyone help me?
any suggestions much appreciated! |
