| free, single player offline rpg quite frankly, having a dial up and little money im fed up with mmorpgs, i hate them like the devil.
guild wars looks quite promising indeed, but i dont know about the connection yet, ill find out how dialup users are faring with it after it comes out
anywho, i need to know if there are any really good, free, single player offline rpg's that you would recommend |

| well i dont know any offline ones but FFXI is nice...oh but you said offline, there are really not many at all for PC that would fit the description of MMORPG like the entire FF series, or Chrono series. there are really not many RPGS that are non MMO on the PC |

| Well if your looking for a game that can run pretty good on 56k and up to 16 player action, then Winbolo, www.winbolo.com, its a simple tank battle game and only uses 8mb of ram. Low graphics, but fun as hell ;) |

| hmm as good as rpgs go, im not a fan of single player, cause you level up your guy and all for nothing, but i unerstand your situation.. if you havn't played the Diablo series.. that is a good one, or a final fantasy game |

| im not looking for something on the scale of an mmorpg, and im definitely not looking for something as vast as morrowind, which, btw, is an amazingly awesome game
im looking more for something that i can just mess around with when i dont feel like playing morrowind
but i really need an rpg, there are only a few other types of games i have been totally completely obsessed with that were not rpgs, i need a story to get me going.
the only game like that that i can think of off hand, is, believe it or not, UT2004, totally addicted.
and warcraft iii, but that is so much like an rpg its not even funny.
which, btw, i dont see as a bad thing, its like a mix of strategy and rpg, and worked very, very well.
but anywho i want something free...just wondered if anyone had come across something good
btw i do own vb6 and msdn library, so if there is something that needs the visual basic 6 compiler, i do already have that
hey!!! ill make my own rpg!!! lol, i did that for warcraftiii, if any of you reading this play warcraft iii, download it at http://darklink2135.tk
be warned tho, the project ultima page is way, way out of date, and you may want to wait about 2 weeks for me to get my final version uploaded, which fixes numerous bugs current version, you get stuck in 4th dungeon and cannot move on
anywho, most everyone who has played it really liked it, said it was loads better than other wciii rpgs they had played, although balance was an issue, it was either too hard or too easy, because of the weird attribute point system i have setup, it really depends on how you distribute your points.
maybe after im done typing this, ill upload it and post a thread for it, i dunno |

Sry dont mean to spam, but this is the greatest game ever. Even if u dont like it at first, get into it and you WILL NOT stop playing. I have spent well over 300 hours on this game...it still excites me and i havent done everything or been everywhere. Ask TRSroller, he will tell you the same thing. Or anyone else that has played morrowind. its awesome. |

however i agree with you, i own it for pc and xbox, i love that game. for pc its even better because of bloodmoon and tribunal, and the buttload of mods out for it, plus the ability to easily make your own, although the editor is definitely lacking |

| No free...but fun If you want a good mmo play saga of ryzom. Never heard of it? Not a big thing. It is a game developed by the frensh. Doesnt have the typical mmo feal...ie eq. Instead of playing a class you have to pick at the start of the game, in this game you create a character and can learn all the "classes" in the game if you want or you can be a fighter, magician, crafter or forager. Over 2000 skills you can learn in just one of the skill sets. |

anywho, i need to know if there are any really good, free, single player offline rpg's that you would recommend | Well, I know this is a bit old to reply too but I didn't realise the date in the post when I was googling free offline rpg's. Anyway, if you are still on here & check in, goto http://www.brothersoft.com they have some pretty decent games. I also have a few (can't remember where I got them) that I think you (anyone) might like. You can try googling the names. Last Scenario, laxius power I, II, III. Ect. |

| Re: free, single player offline rpg http://www.amaranthia.com/ This is an awesome site, and remember that RPG does not always mean level up, it means story line. You play arcade games to kill things and get high scores, but rpg's are more. Its killing people while having an amusing/fascinating/interesting storyline.
And no game is perfect some RPGs are better than some others but some other games are better than RPGs. so when you look for a good "GAME" don't narrow down to just rpgs there will be better ones. |
