Smile lan bounty

some friends and i went to a local lan last night. the same people host the lan as have the last few years, via a university club. the guys running it have a gotten a lot more organized and have gotten sponsors, etc so the lans are now actually more like a real structured lan and less like 30 people in a big room playing random games.

anyhow, my friends and i cleaned up

for 1st place in a cod4 1v1 tournament i got 4gb of mushkin black ddr3-1600. one of my friends got 3rd and got 4gb of ddr2-800.
for 1st in tf2 4v4 tourny i got the thermaltake stuff. there was also a single thermaltake spinQ hsf given to our team for that, one of my friends ended up with that-- same guy who was 3rd in cod4.
the pig and the caffeine were pretty much given to eveyone that came.

the other two prizes are the lan were a mushkin psu and one other thing, was a cpu or something.

edit: after further investigation, it looks like this ram might be some special edition of some kind? mushkin p/n is 996657 and i can't find it for sale anywhere. timings are 7-7-7-20 at 1.85v, same as a $200 kit of corsair dominators but just a higher voltage. interesting...

That's some pretty sweet stuff you got. The hammer looks fun. I'd just love to smack my fiance with it a few times.

so go to some other LAN and get a board lol

I think the hammer is probably the coolest of all, albeit least useful for any purpose

those Tt fans are fairly nice too (fairly sure they're the same ones an old case I have came with, decently quiet and whatnot)

no idea on the RAM though - can you contact the sponsor and ask for more info about it perhaps?

the fans are 92mm and i have no immediate use for them. they will surely come in handy for random projects though

here's the ram, just can't find it on sale anywhere (1 place on the net has it for $250 for the kit). why, i don't really understand, the specs are great. apparently it's been discontinued already. no surprise there afterall, mushkin giving away discontinued products as their sponsorship haha.

Coming up in april I'm hosting a lan party with all my friends. We usually do 4 a year. They get better and better simply because as time goes on and as we grow old we don't have the same time to game like we did in our college days. - One of the biggest problems we have every time is getting everyone on the same page..... most of my buddies don't go out and buy the latest titles....so yeah, we try to play hacked versions of older titles, Age of empires, quake, CS.... I'm looking for some better games....not that those games arent fun.... they're just getting old.

One of the other problems we have is, as the night goes on we end up getting trashed!! Im usually the guilty one. hehe..... It can be a good thing, though. :)

"Command & Conquer (often abbreviated as C&C or CnC) is a video game franchise, mostly of the real-time strategy style as well as a first-person shooter game based on the former. The Command & Conquer series was initially developed by Westwood Studios between 1995 and 2003, with development being taken over by Electronic Arts with the liquidation of Westwood Studios in 2003.

The first installment of the series was released worldwide on August 31, 1995 and was simply named Command & Conquer. It was based on Westwood Studios' earlier strategy game Dune 2. The series was originally marketed to an Anglophone audience, though many of the games have been translated into other languages including German, French, Spanish, Korean and Chinese. The series is primarily developed for personal computers running Microsoft Windows, although some titles have been ported to various video game consoles and the Apple Macintosh. The later games of the series starting with Tiberium Wars have also been developed in parallel for Xbox 360. Another spin-off game, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, was developed for PC/Mac, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

In 1999, American game marketer and developer Electronic Arts purchased Westwood Studios. Westwood was eventually closed down in 2003 and absorbed into EA Los Angeles which has become the current development center for the ongoing Command and Conquer series. Some of the original Westwood developer team remained at EA Los Angeles, but most left to form Petroglyph Games.

As of July 2009, the Command & Conquer franchise consists of eight games and ten expansion packs with sales of more than 30 million units worldwide."
