Good news is they are just splitting with ATI, not going bankrupt - yet.

Actually, if AMD went down the ****ter, that'd be the worst thing that could possibly happen to CPU's.

Intel would have no competition, they could jack prices up, and there would be much less motive to innovate and design new chips.

Hate AMD all you like, but if they die, we'll have to pay for it.

Very true. We can see this today with nVidia and their 8xxx and 9xxx series cards. The 9xxx series is basically a die shrink and better clocking. It's been since Novemeber of 06 and nVidia hasn't pulled anything new out. If nVidia had fierce competition from ATI, then the current gpus would be more advanced.

Here's to hoping r700 will smack nVidia in the mouth.
