| Star Wars Trilogy : Fullscreen or Widescreen? Well, the time is drawing near, quite possibly the greatest motion picutre trilogy of all time is coming to DVD.
But the question is, Full-Screen or Wide-screen?
I personally have a 27" Toshiba HDTV, so I could easily pull off the widescreen, but I still can't decide between the two.
There is the cinematic aspect in choosing widescreen, but then theres the good 'ol American bigger is better motive.
So which, if any, are you guys picking? VS. |

| I won't be gettin it since I never liked Star Wars, however, unless your television is widescreen, I'd go with fullscreen. If you do a lot of movie ripping and encoding, go with widescreen. |

| Widescreen. Have you ever seen the thing on lucas arts webpage that shows what your missing exactly when you watch fullscreen, theres so much you cant see.
You have to get widescreen even if you dont have a widescreen TV. |

| Widescreen it's gotta be, you're losing a third of the scene otherwise.
I'm a big SW fan, but don't think I'll buy this yet, as you know they'll do a Lord Of The Rings and have three different box sets when the prequels make it to DVD. I'm going to wait for the 6-set.
I've seen it for as low as $35 with rebates/pre-order, although most places are doing it at $41. |

| The pixels are pushed together so it looks sharper and with more contrast.
I have a 4:3 TV, not a widescreen. |

| I would say widscreen since all tv's will be 16:9 ( (widescreen most commonly used) eventually since thats what ratio HD is broadcast in and all stations will have to be HD eventually (deadline for switch keeps getting pushed back, last I heard was 2006 or 2010).
But you must also remember even with a widescreen tv Academy Flat (1.85:1) or 16x9. you will still have the black borders on the top and bottom with Star Wars widescreen edition because its not Academy Flat (1.85:1) 16:9 aspect ratio but is in Anamorphic Scope (2.35:1) which is even wider.
If you want to learn more go here http://www.thedigitalbits.com/articl...reenorama.html
I don't remember if star wars is in 2.35:1 or what the exact aspect ratio is but I know its the widest any movie has ever been made in which is why it was only allowed to be played in certain theaters that and the theater had to pass the THX specs to show it.
The aspect ratio isn't a problem if you have a projector since you can adjust it to any size you want. =0) |

| Widescreen lets you see the whole thing though. Doesn't cut off the sides. and if you already have them on VHS then you already own FULL Screen, so why would you want it again on FULL SCReen? |

| For the improved re-mastered quality and the DVD quality of video and 5.1 Dolby Audio.
Ack, I still can't decide, I'll probably go wide. |
