| School Folding Team Like the poll says, should i start a folding team at my school? I figure we hold a scrap drive for pc's or do fundraisers, or get sponsors. I could always beg the principal for money too. I want to no if i should write my principal a proposal to start one or quit wasting my time and do something else. |

| Folding @ home (or at school)
folds proteins over and helps to fight diseases like alzheimers |

#7 | | Guest | folding teams use their computers to run the fromgram f@h which simulates aminoacids folding into proteins
by doing this eventually we can discover why certain diseases happen from misfolds in proteins and hopefully discover the cure....f@h is quite competative...overclockers.com and hardocp have tons of folds done....xoxide has their own folding team but everyone is to lazy to fold...i got 1 fold done woot! | |

| i'm building my brother a computer, and we only have one in the house, so after i build him a comp, i'll be folding for xoxide using the linux console.
since i only have 333mhz, i got about 6 percent done after a few days.
for school, (and at home if i get the money) i figure i can run it under ps2 linux. 128-bit with direct ram, sounds like it would get awesome folding speed. |

| not really. i figure i can run it on the 500 computers that my school already has, and a ps2 and a linux kit is only 250.my school is only a year old, and they just spend 25k just for the robotics team, so coming up with an optional 250 dollars shouldn't be hard. |

It's interesting how cheerleaders will argue that cheerleading is a sport, yet in our school handbook it clearly defines cheerleading is not a sport. you want to know why? if cheerleading was a sport, then according to title 9 there would have to be equal funding to a male sport... if they did that, then the cheerleading budget would have to be cut... title 9 really ruined school sports |

| We have that problem. Next year, our Chemistry Classes will be dead because teachers have their budgets frozen. The Band, Rocket Club, Spanish Club, Quiz Bowl Team, etc. get 0 dollars. But football goes on. Don't you just love it.
I'd say that if you can get support from the administration, go ahead. |

| yeah. they say that if you can get support from three teachers, that you can start a club. i'll ask a biology teacher, chemistry teacher, and my engineering teacher. i'll try to get the network admins at my school to help too. |
