| Computer beeping I have an ATI Radeon x1900XT, I purchased it a few years ago and about 2 weeks ago when I attempt to play games such as Day of Defeat: Source, I will get into a larger area of the map and I receive a system beep about every 3-5 seconds and each time the screen flickers. I also notice I am not getting as good of FPS as I use to. I have reformatted my computer and that did not change anything and I also checked my RAM and it was error free. Would it be safe to assume my video card is almost dead? When I try to play new games such as CoD:WW Beta I will play for a few minutes and then my monitor will go black and blink like it has no connection to the video card. I might think that means it is overheating, but my video card is dust free, the fan on it works, I have even tried setting a tower fan next to my computer tower. |

That is my motherboard. It is hard to get a definite beep pattern, all I can say is it is a single beep, it starts off about 1 beep every 5 seconds, but sometimes in certain parts of the map it beeps every 3 seconds. In CoD:WW it doesn't beep at all, the monitor just becomes unresponsive like there is no connection. My friend has the same motherboard and video card and can play both games smoothly. |

| Re: Computer beeping if you have you more than one stick of RAM, remove all but one and try again. a single beep is a drams refresh error. you could also try updating your bios. info: http://www.msicomputer.com/support/sup_tshoot.asp |

| Re: Computer beeping I removed one stick and it didn't beep at all, but I am not sure if that fixed it because it doesn't always beep when I play. I will have to play for awhile to see if it worked. If that was the problem, does that mean I have to change a setting or my ram is bad? |

| Re: Computer beeping When you do the RAM test, take all but one stick out and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, keep placing sticks (if you have more than one) until you get the problem again. If you do determine that the RAM is causing the beeps, it would mean that your RAM is bad (the last one you placed in most likely), assuming you didn't change settings before this problem occurred. However, it could be a MOBO problem too, couldn't it? (more directed at the other members)

| Re: Computer beeping try running them in the other open dual channel slots. and yes, try to play for a reasonable amount of time. it sounds like its either ram or the sockets.
play about 1 hour on one stick. if all is good switch sticks and play another hour. if all is good try the ram in the other dual channel configuration. if all good, leave it. |

| Re: Computer beeping I tried both sticks of ram separately and both beeped even in different slots. I ran a memtest and it said there was nothing wrong. Not sure what the problem is. |

That is my memory, I might try swapping with my friend and trying his video card this weekend. |
