 |  Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? Well I just installed SP3, and some off 20 some updates. Now when I try to play videos online or on my laptop I get vertical lines across the entire screen. I have to shut down and reboot to solve the issue. I tried to re-install my vid drivers but that didnt help. Any ideas? I want to watch south park  |

| Re: Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? My moms brand new HP laptop running with Vista, has had these issues as well. I havnt seen it personaly, but it would be nice to see a fix or something. |

| Re: Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? i think youtube is flash based, you might wanna head over to adobe and make sure you ahve the newest flashplayer on the computer. also, next time you have the problem hit print screen and paste in to paint and save it. restart the computer so the problem goes away and open the file to see if it copied the lines. this will help determine if its hardware or software. not sure about the static noise though. |

| Re: Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? The lines are never the same size or color. And when it happens I have no access to the OS at all. They completely fill the screen and make the laptop unusable. |

| Re: Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? unistall sp3 and see where it goes. that really looks hardware related to me, but seeing how it only happened after sp3 update, im not sure. |

| Re: Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? Looks like the video chipset is screwed somehow. Could be hardware or software. It's hard to tell. But it is more likely to be the software because it started right after you installed the SP and updates. |

| Re: Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? check your system temps, or try to play a game if you have any and see if it happens. its starting to sound like it might be dead.. you could also try hooking up a monitor and see what happens. |

| Re: Vertical lines on screen when playing videos? Ok, I put in UT2004 and tried to play. The laptop locked up with a black screen and the same static sound. Nothing on the bottom feels hot, just running idle.. |
