| Upgrading Alright guys, my computer is starting to show its age, so it's time for some new hardware. I have 1TB of HDD, plenty of optical, and decent video, along with my faithful old Hiper 580W that's still chugging along. Essentially, im going to replace the RAM, Mobo, and CPU. So far, I have
Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136044
CPU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103273
RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220267
Thoughts/suggestions? |

| Re: Upgrading Get 2 x 2gb sticks of ram instead of 4x 1gb, so you have 2 empty slots for future upgrading |

| Re: Upgrading Dunno what your budget is, but might i suggest spending a few bucks more and getting the MSI? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813130136
I just go this board, and its kickin tail right now. Plus, im guessing most of your HDD's are SATA, which the DFI limits you to four.
Also, like cbuott said, get 2x2Gb sticks instead of the 4 x 1gb sticks.
this OCZ ram is good stuff (99% of OCZ's is) and its got a $30 mirb. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227248 |

| Re: Upgrading I looked at the MSI, but the DFI has the sideways-sockets on the SATA. 4 drives is plenty, and I don't have to worry about a mothership video card wiping out my ports. But thanks for the suggestion, I had considered it.
Also, 2x2GB isn't really necessary; if i need more than 4GB it'll almost certainly be DDR3, but i'll look anyway. thanks guys. |
