Default SATA & ATA

I have an SATA and ATA drive in my computer. Both have been formmated and work when used alone. When I have them both plugged in, my computer boots from the ATA drive and it can't find the SATA drive. I can do teh SATA drive alone, and it works fine. The ATA drive has a secure IDE encryption key on it, could taht be causing the problem? Or is it just not possible to use SATA and ATA at the same time? Thanks for any help, Ryan.

make sure in your bios that you enable your raid ( I know you only have 1 drive)but anyways just set it to base instead of raid and it should boot off of that. I have a suggestion also, I think your sata drive will benefit from installing xp onto and make your ata for storage. that's my case, except i have 2 raptors. and yeah, I have 2 os's on the seprate ata and the sata drives all I have to do is decide in my bios which one to chose. cause I just want games on my sata drive and the other drive is for the internet and soforth.

yeah if you want the sata to have the os make sure its gonna load from sata first and not the ata drive. I know by default it will look at the ata first unless you change it yourself.

go into Boot Priority in your BIOS and set your SATA drive above your ATA drive...

Yes it should say SATA as the name of the boot device. You can format a HDD with the cd/disk that comes with it usually.
