Default Overclocking makin' it run cooler than stock??

Well, here's a new one..I installed a new (Dell OEM) P4 2.8c 90nm 533fsb 1.3875v into The Traveler-http://www.xoxideforums.com/showthread.php?t=54689

Got all my installing and config work done, flash updated the Bios, blah, blah....

Through Bios (Gigabyte 8IPE1000 pro-g) I began overclocking... Worked my way up slowly with the front side and the voltage (This board allows me to raise the multiplier on an Intel chip((but that's worthless for OC)).
When I reached 3.06@1.490v I saw something amazing!
My temps dropped from 43* to 36*@idle and 40@load. I did the experimentation and if I DROP the FSB/Vcore the temp goes rite back up!?
So has anyone ever seen this? Have you a "magical" cpu like mine? I would be skeptical too, if I didn't have so many temperature reading devices..hardware,fan controller, software, bios, temp gun..
Oh btw.. going much over 3.06 does bring the temps up, still only to 43@idle, but 50loaded(high multiplier>.<)

Here's something else that's weird..everything from Bios to CPUZ say's this is a Hyperthreader with one cpu disabled..SMBIOS(DMI) even says the secondary cpu socket is populated but deactivated.Everything sez that..Populated, deactivated....So i take the cpu out, compare and I'll be damned if it is physically the twin of my roomate's 2.8ht 800fsb!??!
What the hell is dell doing to these processors??

I have an XP90 on my rig, and at stock it is 4 degrees hotter than it is when it's overclocked 400 mhz.. .this is because on the XP90, it has the heat pipes and they really don't start to work until you get more voltage and heat coming out of the processor, then the heatpipes can cool it better and you get better temps

I can see that...i'm using a mid level watercooling system so I'm used to predictable temps..

Hell yeah! I can get up to 3.4 before it hits 55@load...I'm keeping it at 3.2 and 40loaded for braggin...the ram I'm using is from a dell server and I've never been able to destabilize it no matter the overclock or the timings(w00t)

maybe your fan speeds up with the volts and not the temp.It could be the heat pipes like some one else said.

Does your heatsink have heatpipes?
