Default Case Plans Chenming 301KE

So its time to move my rig from its original HP case (the only thing that HP put in there are the disc drives, card reader and motherboard and I would need a new case to put in an SLI Board)

I am on a budget, however I want to go for a very nice paint job since my dad has all the equipment to do automotive style paint job since he paints motorcycle parts for side money.

Judging from the reviews and what not I have found, I am thinking a Chenming 301KE would be right up my alley, low cost, free shipping from xoxide, side window, aluminum. I have heard that have a bad paint job though, from some thread on the forum. So I would like to repaint at least the exterior in a mirror black finish with a green bio-hazard sign on the non window side.

How difficult would it be to repaint the case? since the non window panel and top are riveted in, would they have to be removed? Would I have to remove them if I paint everything in black?

Has anyone attempted a successful re-paint of a chenming 301?

If this isn't the proper place to put this, just move the thread. First post and all.

Once I figure out the paint situation, my plans are to have 3 of these http://www.xoxide.com/greenfan.html
2 for side (top intake, bottom exhaust for graphix card) and 1 front intake. I have a non LED Scythe 120mm fan that blows air like a beast as a rear exhaust.

Using Bio-hazard fan grills I am geting off eBay.

For lighting just 2 UV Cathodes

and to top it all off going to sleeve my power supply in Xoxide's UV green sleeving kit (which I will be using the tutorial on this site to help me accomplish)

oh and this fan controller http://www.xoxide.com/xcontroller.html

Hopefully a new paint job is feasible on this case,

Everything you mentioned is possible to do to any case. It just depends on how much work you want to put into it. Whatever you do, do not start all your mods with sleeving yoru PSU. It can be a pain in the ass the first time you do it and it may cause you to get frustrated and say **** it.

I was more asking if people who have a Chenming case have attempted to re-paint and if they ran into any difficulties in the process. Something that is particular to the case.

Also wanna ask the opinion of people who have one and get some feedback before I purchase the case.

And yeah, I am getting two kits and running a practice run with an old power supply I have laying around, and it is the last thing I will be doing.

If you are going to practice, do it on something you are likely to use. Like case switches or fans. At least that way you can use it if it come out well and the wires are small enough to work with that you get the feel for it.

Thank you for the advice, I will probably do one molex (maybe two) on my old PSU, the ATX and then a fan wire just to get a feel for the sleeving thing.

I like that!

A micro atx motherboard (9.6" x 9.6") can fit on that Case?

Thanks!!

Yeah MicroATX can fit in it.

I ended up going with a Thermaltake SopranoRS case, 1 15" green cathode, and 2 80mm green LED side fans.
