| Bondo. Hey, is this bondo alright for case modding? Will it eat threw plastic or anything? http://www.bondo-online.com/catalog_...sp?itemNbr=241
Oh, and, im currently modding my PS1 because I was bored. I was looking at it and decided it was not 1337. So of course I had to make it 1337.
It still needs alot of sanding, and I need to apply a little bit of bondo. Then I need to put in the plastic window and spray paint it.
I was thinking like.. Within those two lines going down the middle, is black. Then on the outside of the lines is orange. But the CD cover thing itself is going to be orange aswell.
If you have any suggestions, feel free to share them. |

| yeah thats the stuff...
err thats a intresting bit of cutting you have there
its gonna take one hell of a lot of sanding, and even bondo cant cover that messup on the bottom of the lollypop shaped thing. youd need more like epoxy putty (millput, plastisteel) |

I dont actually have any modding equitment. I just found some sort of thing that heats up. I burnt that shape out. Im going to sand it all down as much as I can for the next few days. And il go ahead and order some of that epoxy putty |

| How durable is bondo exactly? i have some extra pump paintball gun parts and i wanted to make a dual barrel pump shotgun, but i have no prior experience in manufacturing my own parts.. would bondo work for this, can you think of anything better?

if you wanted to say, hold two paintball guns together, what you need is epoxy putty. you can get this at any car store (radiator repair putty, plasitcsteel is a brand name) or plumbing store. it comes in a small stick, you cut of how much you need and you press it together. you have about 5 minutes to work with it, and then it hardens harder then aluminum. it is very usfull stuff. however it costs about 4$ for a 6"x1" stick.... i bought 10 sticks on ebay for 20$ recently so im set
this site sells the real deal by the crate http://www.hometownstores.com/detail.aspx?ID=31773
Epoxy sticks are:
Durable
Non shrinking
Heat resistant
Highly solvent resistant
Machinable
Sandable
Stainable
Easy to mix; simple procedures establish correct proportions,
less messy than liquids or paste forms
Convenient to carry
Available in colors
Tintable with Universal Colors or touch-up powders
Fast curing
Non-shrinking Quote: |

| your site doesn't work... but another question, you know how you said it isn't strong... lets say i cut a part off my case maybe like 2-3 inches long and 1-2 inches high and i filled it with this bondo stuff, would it crack?... |

| see edit above for standerd bondo pricing.
i woundent reccomend spaning 2 inches with bondo, i would say max 1/2". but if you glued in a metal screen behind the metal you could use it. |

| if you glued (with hot glue/gurrila glue, somehting strong) a sheet of tinfoil behind the cut, would probably be able to use bondo - - as long as there is no pressure on the section AT ALL. if you laminated 3 or 4 layers of tinfoil you could probably get away with it. a piece of balsa wood would work too. the best option would be ataching a piece of sheet metal behind it, but if you dont have access to that, then you could try the other things.
otherwise, i would say use the epoxy stick, you could get an aria that size done with one stick, and you wouldent need suport.
wahtever method you choose, dont forget to roughen the edges of the metal with 100 grit sand paper/a file and if you use the tinfoil to roughen the surface of that also. |
