Default Win7 Scores

My scores are currently:
7.4 - Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83Ghz @ 3.5Ghz
7.4 - 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Dominator Dual Channel PC8500 5-4-4-12
7.8 - 2x GTX 260 Core 216 896MB in SLI (Only tests one)
7.8 - 2x GTX 260 Core 216 896MB in SLI (Only tests one)
5.9 - WD Black 500GB

Anyone else have anything better on the hard drive side of things? Im looking to find a 500GB+ that at least hits mid to high 6's. From what Ive been reading you need SSD's in RAID to hit 7.9 as of right now anyway.

7.1 - (Q6600 @ 3.0GHz)
7.1 - 8GB (4 x 2GB) G.Skill @ ~834MHz, 5-5-5-15 2T
7.6 - 4890 @ stock (880/1000)
7.6 - 4890 @ stock (880/1000)
5.9 - 30GB partition on a 1.5TB seagate 7200rpm

It looks like you'll need an SSD or raid a couple drives to hit 6.0+

Yeah its looking like SSD's are going to be the only way. Ill upgrade someday, right now I'm wanting to get new graphics cards and switch to an i7 system first.

SSD's are such a big revolution that I wish they just didn't happen until I could afford one. ^_^ If I had more money I would be bragging about the same things that make me so jealous right now! <-- he's green from envy

Yeah an 8600 and an 8800 are a big difference, any 7800 models would fall in between.
The CPU is probably cache.

Mine is nothing special. 5.8, the low being my Hard Drives. I have one WDSATA 500 and a Small Laptop Drive that is a WDSATA750. The mix of full size and laptop size is what drops that score.

I'm about to replace my single Seagate 1.5TB with two WD Black 500GB's using my ASUS P6T motherboards Jmicron technology. Anyone have experience with that? or think I should just go with a RAID-0 array?

Any idea if that will push me past the 5.9 ceiling with an HDD?

judging by everyone elses scores, the only way to break 6 on HDDs is to go SSD or 10000rpm

i would agree, although my raid 0 is indeed a 5.9. they are old 16mb cache drives and there's only two. i could about gaurantee that a 3 or 4 drive raid 0 would break 5.9, even with my old slow drives.

I'm about to try out RAID 0 w/ two Western Digital Black 500GB drives, I'll post up if they bump past the 5.9 mark. I'm hoping it's noticably faster than my current 1.5TB drive.

I plan on using that 1.5TB drive as secondary storage for all my music and DVD backups. Those DVD backups really hog space like no other, I couldn't even imagine trying backup blu-rays.

those blacks are supposed to be pretty nice, same with seagate 7200.12's. you should really do 3 or 4 drives if you want speed though... 2 drives will still only fall in the 120-170mbps range.
