Just a quick update, my system at it's max w/o a lapped CPU (probably around labor day).

3dmark Vantage 19238

3dmark06 21281

My Quad 9800GX2's are maxed out. I don't have the $$ to put them on water cooling. But my Q9550 is beginning to run cooler, maybe all my testing is doing a make shift burn-in? I have been able to push 4.105 GHz any tips on getting more out of the chip? I have a 780i chipset and haven't ran into a FSB wall (yet). After I lap my cpu, the temps should drop enough for me to reach the wall. I would so love to get 20,000 out of vantage and 23,000 in '06.

Ran 3d Mark Vantage a few times today, I did a few over clocks. Nothing major, when I over clock my CPU beyond 3.7 ghz I blue screen while booting up, and above 680 mhz on my video cards will cause the drivers to stop working. So here's my specs, Intel core 2 extreme X9560 quad core processor, clocked at 3.7 ghz; three Evga gtx280 video cards, (core) clocked at 680 mhz, (memory) clocked at 1.2 ghz? Which doesn't seem right to me... Precision shows me its clocked at 1.1 ghz standard, but I'm seeing standard for my card is 2.3 ghz at newegg.com. This is the first pc I've overclocked, so I'd appreciate if someone can explain to me why its showing that. Anyway, Here's what I got,

Also, why does it show I have 2.5 gbs of ram? I have 4 gigs in my pc, is it because I'm running a 32 bit operating system? I thought it would still recognize the 4gb.

you are correct about the memory issue, a limitation of 32 bit

Ok after trying forever (not much trying really) to break the 10k barrier...

I finally hit 10025 tonight. I had an idea, and confirmed that i needed to up my CPU volts, now i can run 3.2 stable on my 5000+BE / 3850 (100% OC) w/4G Corsair DHX.

Gonna try hitting 3.4 eventually see if i can get closer to 11k.

BUMP guys

I re-did the test before some small pc upgrades.

Specs right now:

Intel C2D E6750 2.55GHz stock with Zalman 9500 heatsink and fan
eVga 8800GT 512mb with Zalman cooler and heatsinks
Abit IP-35 Pro mobo
2x1gb G. Skill DDR-800 memory
Seagate Barracuda 250gb Sata-II hard drive
Mushkin 650W psu
4x80mm case fans

Test 1: CPU @ 3.2, gpu stock @ 600 cpu/ 900 memory, 2gb ram

11,641 - SM2.0 (5303), HDR (5114) and CPU (2857)

Test 2: CPU @ 3.3, gpu @ 650/950, 2gb ram

12,445 - (5839), (5499) and (2945)

Test 3: CPU @ 3.3, gpu @ 690/990, gb ram

12,607 - (5849), (5680) and (2950)

I don't know why the score is lower now since I did it in August to the same specs, probably all the junk on my hard drive

This weekend I will have 4gb ram total and Windows 7

I will do the two tests as I did today with 4gb ram (3 active with Win XP Pro SP3 32 bit) and then with Windows 7 on a freshly formatted hard drive and 4gb ram running 64 bit

3DMark06 is heavily reliant on your cpu.
For shits and giggles, clock your cpu back down to 2.55ghz and leave your 8800gt @ 690/990. I bet you'll be shocked by how low your score will get.
