| Summer job money, looking at vapor cooling, good choice? Hey guys, I'm working this summer for about 12 days, so nauturally I'll be picking up some cash when I'm done.
I'm going to be picking up about $550 when all is said and done, and since I have that kind of money, I was looking into vapor cooling.
The VapoChill's caught my eye, but with all the techs coming out this summer, I think waiting for another good verison to come out would be a good decision.
Now a vapochill case is about $900, less than the Mach II, so unless you fanboys have a better solution for the money I'm going to be shelling out, let me know.
I get a good allowance from my parents too, so we're looking at about a $900 budget.
I'm wondering if you guys think a vapochill would be a good solution for me, or if a hardware upgrade would be better...
I'm getting watercooling relatively soon, so that will take care of VGA and N/B coolind duties. And for christmas I might be getting some new, good hardware, so I'm wondering what I should get.
I think the vapochill would be my choice for allowance and summer job money, then new hardware and stuff for my christmas gifts.
What do you think? Remember, have about a $900 budget. |

| maybe watercooling w/ peltiers for the good temp performance and spend the rest of the money on some ram. 1024mb of fast ram is upwards of 400 dollars now. spend wisely. |

| Well, I'm 14 right now, I'll be 15 by the summer.
$550 isn't going to buy me a car...so I'm not sure if that's an option. |

| drop the PC 2100, get a gig of PC 3700 off ebay get a 3.2c and u would still have 500 bucks to spend on a $300 set of 7.1s from creative and an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum do it all off ebay then get maybe some water cooling or some more fans or something...no offense buddy, but if i had 900 bucks i would get an entire new comp, i wouldn't add some kind of cooling system, as long as it doesn't blow up u should b fine:) |

| Deadly: they're nothing homosexual about spending loads of money at once, just to let you know
Anyway, I'm looking at another factor: My birthday and the fact I'm close to buying a watercooling setup already.
I'm only about $100 away from being able to buy my amazing watercooling setup (we're talking the best money can buy), so I should have that by beginning of summer. I should get hardware or money for my b-day, then payday comes, I might save all this money up until christmas, then I get an amazing new system to own all.
Then again, if BTX doesn't come into play, I think I should be fine getting a vapochill that should last me awhile...
So here's what we have involved.
$100 away from an amazing w/c setup currently
Birthday on Aug 1
Payday 15 days later ($550)
Allowance most of this time ($25/wk when I do work)
and Christmas of course
What do you think? Go for upgrades throught? Or save up and buy myself a brand new system?
I'll be saving at least the watercooling and the 160GB SATA HDD, in addition to whatever else I can save.
Let me know what you guys think. I think my cooling will be perfect if I get the vapor cooling unit to add onto the computer, but hardware might be a bit lacking unless I upgrade. I'm thinking of waiting until DDR2, PCI Express, and all the new processors come out, and have dropped to the price range I'm looking at, then I'd make a decision.
Let me know. |

| my advice is to get a better job. I did some summer work when I was 18. It was a landscaping archetectual job. I made $1,400 in 3 days at 6 hours/day. less taxes that was. |

| suppose so. I went out and found a chick that was getting her hordeculture degree. I then convinced her to use some connections she had at a business that was looking for a contractor to do some work. We scored the contract by underbidding 3 or 4 companies. Id have to say it was pretty cool. She ended up continuing and doing a few other jobs, but I made the mistake of breaking up with her. |

| meh if you want any sort of vapor cooling wait till the next gen of computer hardware comes out. you'll be kicking yourself if you go and buy a 900$ vapor system just to see PCI express and BTX come out and make your 900$ vapor system pretty much useless. IMHO and being fairly new to WC I would say screw spending the $900 and just wait till after christmas. open a savings account and let the little bit of intrest collect while you wait. |
