Default Heatercore/Radiator?

I just have a ? about heatercores. I am going to the the chevette heatercore, but i was just wondering....what kind of performance gain (if any)would i see from having 2 of these radiators instead of just one. Thanks

Well think about it. If water goes through one and gets cooler then it goes through the other one and gets even cooler you get colder water.
Or are you talking bout specifics?

depends on ur pump, which chev rad and if their in serial or parellel

overall the performance increase is very good but can be made higher with a high gph pump, y splitters to make it in parellel and 2 chev 77

Anyone needing the additional cooling capacity would probably use the mid-80's Impala rad over 2x Chevette version - it's twice the size and less plumbing required.

you can also get 4 120 MM Fans on the Heatercore. YOu could get more air through using the 12 80 MM fans at 28 DBA then 4 120 MM fans at 31 DB. if you used 12 32 CFM fans at 28 DBA they would be able to push 384 CFM total.

u do notice that fans multiply the noise they make.... an that 4 fans is MUCH quieter then 8....

also u gotta shroud them and a few other effects

in the end the 120mm win

ex: my case has 20 fans....loudest one is 35dba....is my case 35dba? absolutely not

38.38 for 12 fans and 37.3 for four fans. Your right, its quieter, but you still get more air with the 80 MM fans becasue the entire heatercore is covered with fans, but with the 120 MM fans, you leave some bare spots on the heatercore

not on a chev77...and tahts what shrouds are for...covering barespots and killing the fan's dead spot...which is y 120mm is better

if you find a good 120mm fan it could equal about 3 80mm fans

With a 120mm you have more air pushing against its target while the 80mm only pushes less. 1 120mm can safely out do 2 80s.

Add to that the fact that you can also buy 120mm AC powered server fans. I have 2 of them on hand, they turn about 2k RPM, and while I can't quote a reliable dB spec for them, I can say that after they spin up, the only noticable sound is the air they're pushing . . .

I found this after doing a search and calling a bunch of auto parts places. Most auto parts places around me want like $30+ for the heatcores you guys are talking about, well I found this spot here that sells the pre modded and painted for $35. Not too bad considering they are the saem thing and already modded. Here is the link. http://www.dtekcustoms.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=103

That's correct.

Ratings are typically 115 to 120 VAC, and you usually have to plan how you'll connect them to your power source; i.e.: Plug them straight into a wall socket (requires a power cord), tap into the PSU inputs, or create an alternate switch / timer relay connection.

My current plan (under construction) uses an Xoxide Military switch (120 VAC rated) to power the fans and pump so they can continue to run after the PC is shut down. I'm researching a 5 to 10 minute timer for a possible add-on . . .

One source for AC fans is here. Stock changes periodically, so check back from time to time . . .

o cool, i never noticed that was the chevette heatercore :D. Im gonna get one of those now! Thx dood

*edit* i take that statement back, that is not the chevette heatercore. After comparing the pic of the one on www.dangerden.com and that one, there are some slight differences in the upper right corner.

Does anybody know wehre that radiator would perform as compared to the Chevette. I would think its comprable because they look the same, but the chevette might be less restrictive. Thanks
